So, Bacardi Special, lengthened if desired with a dash or two of ginger beer, could essentially be called A Bleeding Bastard?

What I want to know (and I could google, but where's the fun in that) is what is the different between Italian and Spanish vermouth, as I have a surfeit of the latter after driving back from Andalusia (hot hot hot no a/c thank you car) in the summer. (Also, as an aside, delighted to see this because I know now that IT is Italy in cryptic crossword land, thanks to studying hard all year....)

Oh when I say Italian vermouth I mean red vermouth. It’s perhaps a confusing affectation borrowed from the old cocktail books. Doesn’t really matter where it’s from: Spain does various great red vermouths. As does France.

Ah, cool, thanks. I assured you meant red vermouth - I just wondered if there was a difference.
