I also ended up with weird and horrible Bourbon - although the the pecans which had been soaking in it were lovely, so not a total fail…
I used a jar with a ceramic lid, so I don’t think the metal lid was the problem. I wonder if we left the infusion too long? I tasted after 2 days and it was nice, if a bit subtle. Two days later, horrible.
Cuyahoga is a perfect song ❤️ (I’m not able to choose a favourite from R.E.M., it would change every time I’d try).
I did prepare the pecan bourbon - or rather, walnut, since that was what I had -, but haven’t mixed the cocktail yet. Will do it later - looking forward!
The Spirits #88: The Pecan Pie Old Fashioned
Worked brilliantly for me, four days soaking. A very pleasing cloudy old fashioned.
Yup, made the walnut bourbon and it was vile I’m afraid.

I soaked the nuts before toasting. Worked out really nicely, even after 8 days in the bourbon
What was the connection with the Ramazzotti picture? Still not managed to lay my hands on pecans, must try harder!
A light toasting of pecans and 3 days soaking have resulted in a non-cloudy, delicious Old Fashioned. I am very grateful :)
