Only about a year late but I finally managed to make one that I really enjoyed. I think the difficult part is that the varying sweetness of apple juice makes balancing necessary, I ended up using a lot of butters to offset it. The cinnamon syrup helps too.
Thank you for the tips on garnishes. These little extras are not easy to do at home unless you plan the process in advance, so your advice was most welcome.
This is a really good playlist this afternoon, I particularly enjoy Nina Simone. And a good theme, all involving sweet things, right? Well, here are some others along the same lines. How about ‘Sugar Sugar’ by The Arches (1969), ‘Sweets For My Sweet’, The Searchers (1963) or something more sophisticated ‘Sugar Baby’ from Bob Dylan (2001). And thinking of garnishes, there is ‘The Frim Fram Sauce’, Diana Krall (1996) or ‘Cherry Oh Baby’. There are lots of covers of this song. You could go for The Stones or Eric Donaldson but I prefer the UB40 version (1983).
Ok, now after we tried it - The Treacle is very good. Not as exhuberant as last week's Jungle Bird (a little Campari and lime does go a long way), but the combination of apple and rum works really well. Definitely one to repeat!
I really enjoyed reading about Dick Bradsell. I wasn't familiar with the name, so it was very interesting to read and learn about him - thanks, Richard!
For all Apple Music users out there - here is this week's playlist (Richard - you forgot to update the week number on Spotify's playlist name 😉 )

Now, where did I put the apples...?
Oh yeah! Thanks 🥃

Anyhow I’ll finish my Treacle and be on my way.
Take care now
