Not being a regular absinthe drinker, a quick glance at what’s available shows a wide variety. Abv ranges from 50 to 90%, with a garden full of herbs. Has anyone tasted a handful, lived to tell the tale and can recommend one?

I went with La Fée because it was mentioned in the Corpse Reviver #2 post. It’s my only bottle to date though

Welcome back. I shall make myself an Arsenic & Old Lace tonight; I'm drinking only on Friday nights at the moment. That Ben Whishaw interview is superb.

Nice to have you back.

You are spot on about the ritual and pomp and tinkle of swizzle on crystal (or Duralex) being a considerable part of the enjoyment. I have found, when on the wagon, that having non-alcoholic cocktails at the weekend makes it so much less of a chore (though blimey, Lent’s bloody long, isn’t it?). Also satisfying to make your own up, as you can have two - or even three - getting the mix just right. Aecorn bitters (esp the orange labelled one) and pomegranate molasses are stellar ingredients. I remain very amused that the alcho-free bottles are also security tagged.

Not to mention that they can still only be bought by over 18s. That Martini Vibrante is very versatile: excellent with tonic, and with an orange slice it looks like a Negroni.

I noticed that Martini now do a “Floreale” version but I’ve not seen it in the UK

I can see the logic of the age limit; just impressed they’re considered nickable. Thank you for Martini intel.
